I've had an Echo Plus since Christmas and it works really well, even when playing loud music. I've recently installed a dot in the bedroom but its is a lot less responsive to the wake word than the Echo Plus. When playing music, even at a low volume, you almost have to shout to get heard by it.
I've followed guidance and moved it away form objects by 8" but that's offered no improvement.
Thanks for the reply. This isn't a wifi issue as the connection stability is fine. The issue is with the dot actually hearing my voice when playing music. L have to raise my voice quite loud to get a response.
In fact, even this morning, when the alarm went off I had to really shout to get it to wake to commands.
I think you're right. I had the bedroom TV on last night to generate background noise and the device responded even when whispering. So the issue is certainly with any music/noise coming out the dot speaker.
