OK I have used an Amazon Echo 2nd Gen to control my Sony KD-55A1 Android TV and then decided on a Sonos One which was faulty and had to be returned.
I am now on my second Sonos One and I am trying to get it to control my TV but for some reason the TV is remembering the previous Sonos One and I can not get it to forget the device.
I am trying to get the TV to see only the one device and forget everything else I want the TV to be called 'TV' in the setup.
When I go into the Control TV with Amazon Alexa app on the TV I have been able to add a second TV to the setup but I have to call it something else and it says 2 tVs are linked but it only gives me the option to delete the second one so I do that and have to start again. I am now greeted with Login with Google, then Choose account and then the next option to Choose account is greyed out and I am unable to go any further.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have been to Google account and deleted every device from there, been to Amazon account devices and deregistered Sonos one from there and added again. When I add Sonos device to Alexa it appears twice in the settings, as Sonos One and Living Room and I don't know why. Tried doing a full system reset of the TV, that didn't work. Tried disabling and re enabling Alexa Skill and Sony TV Skill and re discovering devices that also didn't work.
I have contacted Sonos and they told me to contact Sony, so I contacted Sony and they told me to contact Amazon with this instruction :
With reference to your enquiry regarding your Sony KD-55A1, we can confirm that you may contact Amazon for further assistance regarding un-linking the TV from your previous device.
Any help appreciated as I have ran out of ideas on this.
I tried what you said and unplugged the TV for 5 minutes and removing the Sonos skill and I was then allowed to add the TV again after discovering devices and it did work briefly until the TV is powered off and back on then it comes up with TV isn't responding. I don't get any options to Unlink a device until I add the TV for the second time and then it comes up with 2 TVs are linked but it only gives me the option to delete the second one and then I'm back to square one. It is the first instance of the TV I need to delete so I can start afresh and get it to work as it should.
To clarify, have you been attempting to manage your devices with the Alexa app? Have you tried performing the following steps:
Go to the menu, and select Smart Home.
Select your smart home device, and then Edit.
On the Device Settings screen, you can:
Edit the device's friendly name.
View the Hub or Skill the device is connected through.
Select Disable this device to remove it temporarily from Alexa. To re-enable a device, select it from the Disabled Devices section on the Devices tab.
If you want to delete a device, select the trash can icon to completely remove the device from the Alexa app.
You may need to do the following, if applicable:
To completely disconnect a smart home device from Alexa, open manufacturer's companion app on your mobile device and delete the smart home device. Next, go to the Alexa app using the steps below, and disable the smart home device.
If the above does not work within the Alexa app, I recommend re-attempting it through the Alexa website instead.
Let me know if any of the above resolves your issue.
Hi, I tried everything you said above and in the end most of it did not work until I ended up going to the Alexa website and was able forget both TVs in the list.
Now when I go through the setup process again to add a TV, Alexa discovers it but is never able to connect to it, I keep getting 'TV isn't responding'. I have tried disabling and re enabling
the Sonos skill and Sony Android TV skill and then discovering again but its always the same.
On the TV side of things when I go through the app to setup Alexa to control TV I am greeted with Login with Google so I click next, then Choose an account so my account is listed so I click on that, then I get You must use the same Google account for every Sony's Android TV you control with Alexa. Later you will link your TV with Alexa in the Alexa app with this account and no option to go any further only quit the app.
This is the same account I have been using all along with the TV from new and with the first Alexa devices I had that did control the TV OK.
I have tried unplugging the TV for 5 minutes again, and tried force closing the app and deleting all cache data in the app and restarting but nothing works.
I contacted the Alexa support team on the phone and we reached a brick wall and was told to contact Sony support for further help.
So I contacted Sony support on the phone and a rep took over control of my TV remotely and came to the exact same problem as I was describing. She apparently took some screen shots and contacted me the next day to say there was an automatic software update being released that day and this would resolve the issue and if it didn't she would be sending me an email with instructions on how to do it manually and would contact me between 11am and 12 noon the next day. No automatic update came and no email and finally got the phone call at 4pm to query how the update went and I explained that I received neither and then she promised again to send an email with manual update instructions but would not be able to contact me again until Wed 4th April because of the bank holiday. I just did the update manually this morning Sat 30th March to version 2858 and am getting exactly the same issues with the setup Alexa to control TV app stuck at the Google account stage. When I discover the TV from the Alexa side it still sees it but keeps coming up with 'tv isn't responding' and I have disabled and re enabled the skills.
