Mine did that the other night, I clicked the iPad Home button twice, closed the Alexa app down by flicking it to the top of the screen, then starting the app again. It took 3 tries but it worked.
The only other thing that I can suggest is go to Settings, find Apps and make sure that it isn't still running in the background, if it is force it to close, if it isn't, reset the iPad by :
Begin by pressing the on/off and home buttons at the same time. The on/off button is located on the top right corner of the iPad. The Home buttonis the round one at the bottom center of the iPad's front
Continue to hold these buttons until a slider appears at the top of the screen
Let go of the on/off and home buttons
Move the slider left to right to turn off the iPad (or tap Cancel if you change your mind). This shuts down the iPad
When the iPad's screen goes dark, the iPad is off
Restart the iPad by holding down the on/off button until the Apple icon appears. Let go of the buttons and the iPad will start up again
I have been having this issue as well for the last week. The app opens and you see amazon Alexa, followed by three dots and then a bank white screen. I have quit the app more times than I can count, restarted the phone, updated everything, uninstalled and reinstalled and still I have the same result. Please can I have any suggestions to get this working again.
@nicola: the suggestion from the Amazon moderator Alexander (posted 8 may) to contact Customer Service might be your best option if nothing else has solved your issue.
Select "Phone" as the contact method and they will phone you back, and can talk you through things to try, in real time.
Hi
Up until very recently the Alexa app was working fine, both on my iPad and my iPhone 8.
Now though, the home screen doesn't show anything (apart from the three icons at the bottom).
If I select the calling & messaging icon, or the 'music' icon the screen works as it should, but pressing 'home' makes the screen go blank/black.
Running iOS 11.3.1
Hello PKSlough,
Welcome to the Forums!
I recommend attempting the following to see if the issue persists:
Let me know if the any of the above resolves your issue.
Tried uninstall/reinstall before posting here. Also just tried uninstall/restart/reinstall - no change.
I see other posts around the web saying their home screen went blank but white, so it seems I'm not alone.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone....blank home screen, no way to get it back. Running IOS 11.4.
Any updates on what the issue is?
You may want to raise the exact same question on the Apple HELP forum to see if they can give you any canny advice.
(I regret I only have an iPad so can not offer peer device support.)
I wonder why someone would follow their own alternative forum profile.
Got the latest Alexa app?
works OK on my IPhone and iPad

@Nicola: I believe the answers already suggested on the thread cover most options available to you I'm afraid.

Disappointed when I see "answers" that seem to have been posted purely to wind-up others or to create conflict, rather than to actually help anyone.
