has anyone had same issue with echo dot not reconnecting by itself to WiFi after it was down? 1 have both Dot and large echo and while large speaker connect automatically when WiFi is back again Dot simply won't. each time have to go through the setup procedure which is super annoying as where I live each rain make WiFi goes down. also its my bedroom Alexa which I use as my alarm clock so if the wifi was down over the night it will not wake me up.
Bought my mum an Echo Dot to use in her residential care home to play the music she likes. The WiFi coverage in the home is not great and sometimes 'dies', which disconnects the Dot from the WiFi.
As with all other devices, if the WiFi signal dies and comes back again, the device should automatically re-connect to the WiFi, but the Echo Dot doesn't. I have to re-connect it manually each time I visit.
Has anyone else suffered from this type of problem and if so, do they have a solution?
I often have this issue, For some reason the Dot doesnt like reconnecting, when really it should, My dot is 2ft from the router, and the smart lights across the room never appear to lose connection.
What I think is happening is that the Dot, doesnt have any reconnect protocol so you need to just unplug/replug the dot and it will reconnect fine, but if the WiFi drops it will never try to reconnect unless it is restarted.
I would like to know from Amazon why this is the case? Is it too hard to ask a device that is plugged into the wall to keep trying to reconnect if connection is lost and it is set up correctly? I would understand if the Dot was Battery Powered that would make sense to keep power usage low but come on guys, all you need to do is add a connection lost routine to the firmware. BTW if you had a rechargeable waterproof dot that you could charge up then use in the bathroom I would definately buy one as I love taking long baths and listen to music or Audible books.
