I have just 'opted-in' to Alexa and Echo Dot plus the Harmony Blaster. A fair bit of expense only to find the 'Follow-On' option missing in Settings.
My head is aching already from saying Alexa, Alexa, Alexa, Alexa to such an extent that I now have to think before I talk to a human being!!! Even my wife keeps telling me her name is NOT Alexa!
Please tell me how to turn on this Follow-On facility in the UK.
By Follow-On I mean say Alexa once followed by a command and within 5 seconds of Alexa ending the command, say another command without the Alexa prefix. Continue in that way for multiple commands, ending by saying Alexa Stop or something similar
That's the "Follow-Up" mode but it's not an available option in the UK at present.
I stand corrected.
Then if it not available within the 30 days I have to return this I will consider returning them and re-purchase when it is available.
I cannot imagine all the 'Alexas' I will have to say to use the Harmony even if it does have some grouping of inputs. I will speak to the Amazon Dot team tomorrow to hear their input first.
Apparently it is possible to have a UK profile and a USA profile and switch between them to get Follow-Up. However you lose KIndle and maybe Amazon music I think.
Over the years there have been a number of Amazon/Kindle/Fire/Echo features that have been introduced in the .com store that have not been rolled out to others. Some we may never see. Unfortunately, even if Amazon tell you that they are working to make it available, that doesn't guarantee that it will appear but good luck with it anyway. I can see how useful it would be in many cases.

There is a new 3rd Generation Echo Dot on pre-order in the UK. I am asking if that has the Follow-Up facility. I need to find what improvements there are in both hardware and software if any.

It is nothing to do with the model of the dot or any other Alexa device, until the Alexa software is updated in the UK the follow up will not work.
Google home has follow up but I don't know how good it is.

Yes, thank you. I am aware that the Follow-Up is software related but wondered if with the new 3rd Gen. Dot, they will add this to Alexa.
To find the answer from the horses mouth so to speak I have phoned Amazon Dot team and they are researching, a) Is the Follow-Up available for Dots purchased in the UK after 11th October 2018 and b) Where to find lists of software facilities to compare currently owned Dots with new ones to determine if the 'update' is justifiable in money terms for me.
I expect a call-back today.
I assume if Follow-Up is available in October, the old software will be updated.
I think you miss the point, if the software is updated it will work on all versions of the dot not just the latest model, good luck if you can get Amazon to give you any update details.

However if you do post it for all of us to see
Not missing the point regarding the software. I agree if the new dot has the Follow-Up then it will /should be available to current equipment.
Received the callback and an email:
No further information available on the 3rd Gen. Echo Dot or the software update if any, until release in the UK on 11th October 2018.
At least they did not ignore me and I have a contact name.
