Since the 13th of November, my echo show will not connect to my station on tunein. When attempting to connect, I get 'Getting the last tunein station 'myname' listened to: The sound of trance', followed by 'The sound of trance isn't available right now' 'The sound of trance is currently not available'.
However, I can both get the echo show to connect to any other tunein station, and the 1st gen original echo in the other room, and also the Alexa app on windows 10 will connect to my station with no issues.
I've rebooted the machine serving the content, which is a remote windows machine in a datacentre in france, and this has made no difference, and i've also tried connecting my echo show to a different wifi network (2.4ghz and 5ghz), and have also tried rebooting and even factory resetting the echo show.
I contacted Amazon support on the 13th of november, and was told it would be passed over to tunein, whom I have also contacted myself, but apart from one reply from tunein, I have heard nothing since then.
I've added a video to this post showing what is happening, and also showing the fact that the station will play fine from other devices.
I'm hesitant to say the echo show is faulty (I don't think it is), but this issue has me completely and utterly stumped.
I did have an issue at the beginning of the year where the echo show would have issues playing music from amazon, and when contacting amazon, they diagnosed the unit as faulty, and replaced it, but now i'm getting nothing from them.
I have the EXACT same problem. There is this one radio from TuneIn that plays fine on my 1st gen Echo, but refuses to play on my Echo Show saying "the station is not available". In my case the radio station is Europa FM, so I think it is not station/stream specific but a bigger issue between TuneIn and Amazon.
Me too!!! I cannot get my local radio station anymore" The Voice FM" always could. I spent 2 hours on amazon on line chat and they couldn't sort it, just told me it wasn't available, I have an echo show. We just went round in circles, they really didn't have a clue!!
I had this yesterday I ask for a Radio station I have listened to many times but for some reason the show would not find or play that station giving me some excuse that it cannot search TuneIn by category or something. Looked on the app on my phone and searched through commands I found the station clicked on it and the station played this is something I have never seen before. Mind you after an hour I got the Pop Pop Pop problem and turned it off.
Just ask Alexa "play classic country 1630 from tuneIn" and I got "I cannot seach by genre on tunein" ???? then when I find it on the app on my phone I click on it and it plays so to use the voice activated device I had to use my phone. Whats going on with Alexa it will not do things it did before it even as trouble with radio streaming it keeps dropping and when it does you get a loud popping noise.
The thing as gone mad lately and fast becoming totally unusable
apologies if this is not quite same as orig thread, but I'd be interested in people's thought/experiences with their simila example difficulties pls so we can learn how to fix/combat
say: (Alexa) "play 1 hundred & 7 Salt FM on tunein" gets a "I couldn't find a channel 107 on tunein" despite not sayin anythin about a "channel" similarly not spellin out the numbers 107 doesnt seem to make any difference despite when the station's activated from the app bein (temporarily) unavailabl thats what alexa says as an error i.e not spelt out like 1 oh 7
incase you were wondering also, it doesnt seem to make any difference whether you say zero or oh i.e 0 too but am puzzled by alexa's view on what a channel or what a "station" is? So as it stands the only way I can voice activate 107 Salt fm on tunein is to select it via the app & then if it was the last thing I listened to on tunein on my echo dot (v2) say play tunein & alexa will play the last thing again she played. By the way 107 Salt Fm is not the same station as "Salt Fm" in Tunein, they both are religious radio stations, but 107 Salt Fm is mainly Ugandan
