Hi. Has anyone else's dots recently begun stopping music playing?
I've recently bought a 3rd gen dot (to go with 2 other 2nd gen dots elsewhere in the house). However, when I have music playing (i.e. alexa play heart radio) it'll just randomly stop playing after a while (whether it be a group of dots or just one). There are no set times when the music stops i.e. after half an hour, it's just random times.
I've checked the history and there is no command to 'stop' so i'm stumped! I can't see any settings in the app either.
It only seems to have started when I installed the 3rd gen dot (it happens on all dots not just the new 3rd gen one).
I get something similar with the BBC Radio Skill, it'll just stop playing after about an hour, sometimes half an hour. When reading the feedback comments for that skill I've noticed other users reporting the same problem.
Is it possible that Amazon have reduced the size of the date stream buffer? ..or that the Echo Dot 3rd gen simply has less hardware working memory for buffer?
The buffer allows for variability or flakiness in internet dialogue or with wifi interference, ensuring that the stream can reconnect and continue when or where there are dropped packets in the data stream.
We probably need to do some packet captures to determine tha causes of this behaviour.
Anyone handy with Wireshark experiencing this issue?
I also have this problem. Radio just stops playing. Sometimes it restarts and sometimes it doesn’t. At first we assumed it was the internet connection but that’s fine. We’ve rebooted and reset the WiFi settings. It happens every day and we’ve now stopped bothering with it. We think it’s the unit itself.
