Hi, I got my dad an Amazon echo (2nd gen) for Christmas and I'm currently having an issue:
We've got a Spotify family account with multiple different users so I've registered my dads device (at his home) using his own personal amazon account and then logging into his own personal Spotify account. Now I have two Alexa devices in my apartment (one echo and one echo dot) that are both registered to my amazon account and I am logged into my personal Spotify account.
So my issue is that when my dad plays Spotify on his Alexa it cuts off Spotify on whatever device I'm listening to mine on (echo, laptop, phone) as it says Spotify connect is being used on my dad's echo. I visited him this weekend so took the opportunity to check that his echo is definitely not logged into my Spotify account, which it wasn't.
I've tried deregistering and reregistering the Alexa but so far no luck. If anyone has any ideas as to what might help it would be greatly appreciated!
Has his account by any chance been registered with amazon household with yours (or vice versa)? If it has it could have defaulted to your account. You need to tell Alexa to switch accounts or better remove him from the household.
The only other thing I can think of, is to try is to de-register and then re-set the device
