I changed my password with Virgin media after doing some wifi signal tests in the house. After this I had to reconnect my devices including phone TV and Alexa. Phone and TV worked fine but my Alexas wont set up, when I click the device in wifi connections the device says connected and go back to the app but nothing happens. In the wifi settings it says the device may not be connected to the internet. Can anyone help please
You are not alone.. We are having exactly the same problems and are getting very annoyed with Alexa now.
Bit of a a coincidence perhaps but we too have recently changed our BT wifi password. There is nothing else we can think of that has changed. Since then Alexa hasn't been happy.. We too have deregistered, set up from scratch, spent days and days scratching our heads and still no joy. She does tell us weather, she does play my local radio station. Asked her to play Radio 2 and we got some foreign rubbish!!!! She no longer plays music. I used to say "Alexa, play UK Top 40", she would. Now I ask her she says she cant find any songs!!Now if I ask for a specific song she either cant find it or offers to play a sample???
Alexa works through the app on mobile phone no problem but through Echo Dot is next to useless.
We too have tried setting the SSID name and password back and it has not worked for us either..Hope someone can help as Alexa is coming close to getting thrown out of window..LOL
That your Echos can connect to the internet via the wi-fi and stream such as weather info, suggest you don't have any problems with your router, wi-fi and home broadband.
Stop looking to your router and home network to fix your issues. You are not experiencing the same problems as the OP.
It sounds like you have set up your Alexa app on your smart-phone (or possibly on a different smart-phone or tablet) and re-registered your Echo devices on a different Amazon account name NOT associated with your original Prime account.
