Today I had an e-mail about 'What's new with Alexa' and it announces voice recognition. Having asked her to learn my voice as the e-mail suggests Alexa referred me to the Alexa app on my phone and to go to Settings and scroll down to Your Voice to set up voice recognition. The trouble is.. it's not there.
The Alexa app I have is up to date so what's going on? Is the Voice recognition announcement a bit too early or is the updated Alexa app a bit too late?
This feature has been available for a while, I was particularly interested because I wanted to link Amazon Music accounts to voice profile accounts. Unfortunately after many hours on calls/chats to amazon support it was confirmed that the feature was not available to UK users.
Today I was hopeful that the feature would be available, so updated the Alexa and Amazon Music apps on my iOS device. I went through the procedure of "learning my voice". It is there on the iOS app, but for me it is a useful as a chocolate teapot as it does not do what I need, despite being advertised feature.
One thing to try is sign out of the app. On the iOS app "sign out" is under settings at the very bottom. Shut down the app and re-start and sign back in. When you sign back in you should "personalise your experience" by stating who you are.
Oh. Seems like it's all a pile of horse apples as some people say :(
By the by - and pardon me for being curious - does the Samsung app still grant you a free monthly book curtousy of Samsung? It never seemed to be a big advertisment and I am wondering if it's still something that happens. Apologies if I am being nosey :)
