We have multiple Echo dots and I have checked there is no preferred speaker set. My sons' Echo dots play their music requests on the wrong one so one says "play xyz" and it plays on the other one and vice versa. Wracking my brains for a setting but cannot find anything. I have tried unplugging all devices to no avail. Any ideas please?
You don't give much info.. and what you do give is very imprecise. So, I'm going to be guessing a bit.
You or your son has Amazon's Single device Unlimited Music Plan, so it play only on that specific device.
Echos have speaker arrays, so they try to work out which Echo is closest to the requester.
You can request to any echo in your Alexa app devices by name. So if you have an Echo named Kitchen as I have, I can say from anywhere in the house: "Alexa, Play BBC Radio4 on Kitchen" to plait from the Kitchen Echo.
Sorry for being vague. My wife subscribes to a family plan for Amazon music, i.e. up to 5 devices. We have 4 Echo dot devices. I don't think my sons' devices are each in earshot of the other. Each one responded in the correct room when we said "Alexa", then each son said "play xyz" and it played on the Echo in the other bedroom.
I've looked at Alexa on my wife's iphone and cannot see anything saying the type of profile but all dots are in the same app in one group. The action button gives the same result. Today, I pressed it and asked for Abba music and it played in the other bedroom.
I think there is a word missing in your final sentence as I don't know what you mean by "making the device".
