2 x dots downstairs on my account - both work fine and got them paired for multi room music
1 x dot in oldest child bedroom - who's an adult on our household
1 x dot in youngest child bedroom - shown as a child on household but date of birth is over 13 years old
We have family music so that all works fine.
Drop in works fine on all devices, but when I announce, it only goes to the oldest child.
Is this because you can only announce to adults?
It's a right shambles all this by the way. I took my weeks of reading and scouring the internet to get music and drop in to work correctly, having to mess about in each childs's app on their phones with phone numbers, invites etc. Pretty poor really for a so called smart home solution.
Can't believe that Amazon haven't properly thought this through, and considered that a "standard" house with adults and 2 kids might want 4 devices that can all communicate and play indpeendent music.
You are right, the whole family environment on the Amazon platform is a shambles.
The last time I checked (several months ago now) the child account with Household does nothing on the EHCO devices. I think it more about sharing some PRIME benefits, content and managing Fire tablets.
I also spent ages trying to get it work, in the end the only way it would work was to have all the devices on the same account, that way things like "announce", shopping lists and "smart home" devices worked.
We moved over to Amazon Family music, so can simultaneously stream upto six devices independently, but it is all done on a single music account - so we all see each others playlists and personalised music recommendations are not really personalised. Even on the iPhone/tablets the kids login to my Amazon music account.
Thanks all, I'll check all settings but pretty sure they're OK..
There was a reason I didn't just set them all up on one account, which I think was around music. I thought if you had amazon family music, the idea was that family members with their own accounts could use it - hence why I set up their own accounts.
So if they were all under one account, could the kids listen independently in their rooms whilst I listened downstairs to something else?
