I have always played radio 2 on my echo just by saying play Radio 2 but today it will not play I have the bbc skill enabled I say open the BBC then say play Radio 2 it says here is radio 2 then nothing. Tried through tune in says it can’t find a radio station Radio 2 can anyone help
Denzal, BBC radio is no longer on TuneIn for UK listeners so that won't work. The BBC Skill should work, however, if you are in the UK. Double-check the location of your Echo is correctly set.
I've heard several people report that the BBC Skill just plays silence when you request a radio station. Starting to wonder if there are some capacity limitations on the streams the BBC skill uses that is now being hit. I'm listening to R2 this morning on a mk1 Show using the BBC skill, and it is repeatedly halting, buffering , then restarting. R2 on TuneIn worked flawlessly on the same setup.
You could also try disabling and enabling/logging into the BBC skill again see if that helps.
This has started happening on my mother's (single) Echo this week. "Alexa play radio 1", "Alexa play radio 3" and "Alexa play radio 4" all works and say "Playing radio x from BBC Sounds". But "Alexa play radio 2" results in a cannot find a station called radio 2 (can't remember exactly hence no quotation marks). I've added the Radioplayer skill and radio 2 is accessible through that but unless there is a way of making that the default this is not a solution for her. This is a real problem because it actually plays a foreign station so all she can really do is turn it off. So there is a fault in the Alexa-BBC Sounds connection yet so far ths thread seems to be in denial. Please could you tell me when the problem will be fixed. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip on including BBC - I'll check and report back.
Sorry I thought this thread was about Radio 2 in particular not TuneIn in general. Radioplayer works well and is what I use with my Bose Soundtouch speakers - much better than TuneIn (in my experience).
