Judith, you don't say how you usually charge your Fire.
- If you use the USB socket on a PC or Laptop it can be that the USB has too little power to actually charge a Fire.
- Most PC's and Laptops have a powerful and a weak USB - have you used the "other" USB.
- I do not remember which Fires came with powerful wall chargers and which come with just the USB cable. It is worth looking around for a wall usb adaptor from anywhere from your local £ shop to supermarket to Amazon or other online shop. If I try to charge my fire with the 2amp USB that is built into my wall socket then it takes 15+ hours to charge. Plug it into a powerful 5amp charger and it's full in 3 hours.
In the worst case your Fire could have died horribly. It does happen, sadly. In which case look at the Free Kindle for xxx apps or look at the super cheap Fire basic and consider ordering one for delivery tomorrow. Sadly none of my Fires have died so I have way too many and they ... just ... keep ..... going!!!!
The brand new basic Fire 7 is ridiculously good for practically every use envisaged for the device. Probably useless to take a rocket to the moon but great for consuming Amazon product.
NOTE: Amazon often heavily discount kindle/fire products at Black Friday / pre-Christmas. If you are needing to buy a new device pick your time :)
