Yes I can see tht the wake word can be changed on the Fire Tablet but the only choices are either "Alexa" or "Amazon". Unlike with my Echo's, there's no option to select the wake word "Computer" in the Fire Tablet 10 settings. How do I put this forward as a future feature request for ALL Alexa devices to match the echo including the Fire tablets 7/8?
alexa is invoked by holding the home button until the blue line appears. Then you just talk.
You can invoke Alexa by holding the home button as you say or you can activate Alexa handfree access by turning on handfree mode in settings-Alexa menu. You can then selecting a wake word but you can only chose between the words "Alexa" or "Amazon" unlike the Echo devices, the word computer is not yet included. Handfree access is not available at all on the Fitr tablets 7/8 which is also a pity as it will be a really useful feature once those issues have been addressed.

Thank you for the clarification. You learn new things all the time.
I would also like the ability to change my Fire Tablet's wake word to "Computer" as well, is there an estimation of when this feature will become available?
I am thinking of returning my Fire 10 tablet. I never imagined that you could not change the wake word to "Computer". Deal breaker for me. I'm not surprised Amazon doesn't tell anyone. Just plain dumb.
You really will hate the device if something that trivial that is a deal breaker for you. You are making the correct decision. Good luck with any other tablet.
I would not change mine to computer even if I could, I did this with the dot for a while. You would be surprised how many times people/radio/TV say computer compared to Alexa and each time it bursts into life and sometimes answers.
I found Echo was the best option as the word was rarely said by anyone unless they wanted to turn Alexa on.
I have a Fire HD8 and if I'm using it when anyone says "Alexa", the blue bar appears at the bottom of the screen, but nothing seems to happen, although that could just be because I have it muted. Have to give it a try with the sound up and out of range of my Echo.
I tried the HD8 in the kitchen with the volume turned up. Alexa: What time is it? Reply: "The time is 8.43 pm."

Maybe it's "trivial" to you, but odds are you're just a basic little user with an Echo on his or her kitchen counter. You ask it about the weather like a simple customer and that's the end of your abilities with the device.
For some of us, syntax matters. We have 5-10 of these things everywhere, built into walls, ceilings, etc, controlling everything from lights to home security to A/V stuff, and we have habits formed around specific phrases, which are triggered by the word "Computer."
I was considering getting a Fire HD 10, despite the poor build quality, compared to an iPad, but it's not an option until Amazon adds the "Computer" wake word.

Wouldn't mind having a tablet around the house, but tbh it's a crutch that would hinder the development of a proper voice-enabled minimalist smarthouse.
I don't understand why amazon cannot add unified wake words across all devices... it is silly really.
I bought HD10 tablet to hang it in the bathroom to work as an extension of my echo enabled house but it is useless if I have to call 'Alexa' every time I am in the bathroom and 'echo' everywhere else.
Amazon please add missing wake words to your tablets. I've had plans to hang HD tablets in each room as a light controller however without full unified voice integration of hands-free system this cannot be done at the moment.
I cannot hang echo show on the wall. my only choice is HD tablet.
smart devices should integrate into the building fabric and not be an after-thought (i.e. free-standing and bulky)

Can you change the wake word on a Fire tablet 10 HD to "computer! instead of "Alexa" like you can with the Echo Dot?

by emailing Amazon at kindle-feedback@amazon.co.uk
I thought that Alexa does not need to be said.

Possibly never, however, the more people that send an email to the address in the post by CBRetriever, the better the chance.

It is still trivial.
It's a deal-breaker for me.
