Last night about 1am ( 22hrs ago) my kindle stopped showing me my send to kindle documents. It just gives a black screen which hangs there for a while before reverting back to home screen or going into standby by because my screen times out.
Since 11am today the same issue is happening with my books library aswell, it is just an empty black screen. I have bought books today and haven't seen the downloading arrow appear at all today, and cannot see my library on my kindle because of the black screen. ( they are showing as purchased in contents in my "manage contents " online.
I have tried :
1)turning off and on again,
2) the 40 sec power hold then turn back on,
3) requesting delivery of a document from manage contents - that said it was delivered successfully online, but didn't show as downloading and didn't get my documents screen to work.
4) powering off and leaving off for ages then starting up again
I am reluctant to do factory reset as looking across the forum this seems to be an issue other people are having too.
Has anyone had any joy from Amazon as to what is happening please?
I asked the lady on Amazon help chat if she can ask someone to look into what is going on because there are too many of us having the same problem today for it to be just an individual device issue. Not convinced she will... but we can only hope.
Just letting you know that an Amazon phone tech has confirmed it is a software issue that the developers know about and are working to find a fix. A factory reset, etc, won't fix it, you will just lose anything not backed up and it still won't work. The tech had good look at my device ( remotely) and has said it could take a few days for the developers to sort it out. No amount of cache emptying etc, will rectify it as it isn't the device that is faulty it's something at Amazon.
You're welcome. I just hope they get it sorted soon. Hopefully the long weekend doesn't mean it takes longer for them to work out a fix. This is my third day of not being able to read/see my books or get to the documents I was working on.
I actually reset mine and reloaded about 5,000 documents which took a few hours and although I can now read books and docs, I still can't see anything on the For You page which usually tells me the last thing I looked at and holds books that I am about to read. it's frustrating but I assume this is all part of the problem as reported?
Lisa - sorry about that. I must admit we have the challenge of 2 Blackberry phones, the old one works fine with Amazon and Audible, the new ruddy expensive one just laughs and ignores Amazon. Playing constant "keep up" games on updates and compatibility does sometimes feel like a large hammer would cure all problems!
Hi Angela, I'm still waiting for the developers to find a fix like you. Mine still isn't working either. The tech I spoke to on the phone said he was going to keep an eye on this issue and phone or email me when the developers had worked out a fix for it. I think because it's memorial weekend in the US, that the developers haven't been in work to even look at it. It's like our Bank Holiday.
I am getting really hacked off though, they can break it easy enough, why can't they just reload the previous update ( like a rollback) to set it straight?!
The problem with phoning again to try to find out is that the techs are all over the world so you can't get back to the one you spoke to before. My guy for this problem was in Costa Rica !
It winds me up that my dad 's is still working. I don't get why it's affected some but not all.
You'd think with it affecting so many of us that they'd make it a priority.
This is the second time this has happened. Is there an update from Amazon to tell us what's going on. I didn't pay £100 to have this happen twice in one week leaving me unable to read a single book. It would help if Amazon bothered to publish what what's wrong and an approximate fix time.
