Hi, bought the kids edition Kindle fire 7 and set up a child profile. It seems to work great except for one thing, the square icon is missing in the child profile.
When I change to my profile the square is there. I can therefore close apps that I have opened. However, my child's profile can't close apps.
When he is in a game app and wants to play a different game he presses the circle and goes to main menu and selects another game. I presume the originally game is still open in the back ground but as there is no square icon I cannot tell.
If I select settings in his profile I have to use my pin to access but there is nothing to select to manage apps.
If I change to my profile I can manage apps and select his profile from within this but the games he is playing do not appear to be running.
Do they close automatically? I doubt this as the fire seems to be running slower now.
I've googled this issue but only get explanations on how to use the square icon to close apps or use Manage Apps to force quit.
Have you tried restarting the Fire tablet to see if the issue persists?
To restart your Fire tablet:
Press and hold the power button for two to three seconds until you see the message "Do you want to shut down your Fire?" and then tap OK.
After the device has completely turned off, press the power button for two to three seconds to turn your Fire tablet back on.
You may also want to check to see if your Fire tablet is up-to-date with the most recent software version. You can use the following link to select your exact model and it will provide instructions for checking your current version and updating, if needed:
This is what is known as a "zombie thread" - older comments resurrected but no new information added :(
To be clear - turning things "on and off" does very little for Amazon Fire or Kindle devices. There are two main options:
Reset - Press and hold the On button in the On position for a slow count of 40. IGNORE WHATEVER SCREEN COMMENTS APPEAR! Press, hold, count to 40. (A screen promt will appear "Are you sure you want to turn this <device> off?" IGNORE IT!
this simple reset gets rid of many minor gremlins.
Restore - You are restoring to factory defaults - it's an option on the settings/menu options. It will clear major problems. It will force you to register the device, connect to wifi and mail and download stuff again and it will lose most "in-game" scores.
Hope this helps. CW.
