Recently bought a Fire8 tablet and experiencing some issues with WiFi, anybody help? Having followed the set up routine I have connected to my BT Hub5 and can access the internet but with some restrictions. I continually get a dialog box that says "Android System, Sign into a WiFii Network then it lists my Hub designator" I have tried all the obvious things, such as rebooting the router and tablet, reinserting my password issuing forth the requisite profanities etc but to no avail.
To expand on @Peterh's post - Amazon devices have a "problem" with the advanced BT and Virgin Hubs. You need to connect to the lower option, and (if possible) turn off all of the "smart" connection options on the hubs.
You can probably get step by step assistance by searching on BT help forums. It should be a simple process but is a bother :(
@ Billy: the above suggestions cover how to get any fire to work with the clever bit and virgin hubs. If you are unhappy or unable to access the bt or virgin hub help page s and are unable or unwilling to manage your router then you have a problem. You can not really use a fire without WiFi connection, therefore you would be wise to return it and get a refund. Sorry,

Hi bought a Fire 8 yesterday im having exactly the same issue as Alan above.
I have no problem connecting smart tvs, firesticks, Samsung tabs etc but this fire 8 doesn't want to play.
Ive no idea how to change frequencies on my router and nor do I want to in case that messes other things up.
Any other ideas at all or shall I just return it?

split the 2.4 and 5ghz signals by renaming the 5ghz one (the one least likely to be used)
wifi is very simple and follows very simple rules. It is easier than an easy thing to find this info out online. The “smart” useful and helpful bits they include in the router need to be switched off. Their effect in devices is well kniwn and again, until something else doesn’t like it.
your choice is simple, either switch off smart and split the frequencies or return the device because it will never work.
Many thanks for all the info but, unfortunately, it still didn't cure the fault when I shut down the 5gig completely. I do also have a smart TV, Humax Set Top Box, Hudl2 and a laptop that all connect to the WiFi, obviously not all at the same time, any known conflicts there?
Having many devices connecting on wi-fi is not a problem, and the device connections do not conflict as they are all asigned a separate internal IP address. All devices can be connected at the same time. Personally I have 20+ or more with smart-phones, tablets, smart plugs, lights and thermostats and Echos and all, they add up pretty quickly.

1. Your echo has access to the internet? ..IE: you can play streamed radio. "Alexa, play BBC radio4 from TuneIn" ?
2. What are the ".. restrictions"?
3. Where do you get the message ""Android System, Sign into a WiFii Network.. " ?
4. Can you screenshot the Wi-fi networks page with your BT Hub5 connections status dialogue shown?
