I've got a Kindle for my kids, and we've got a new router, so I need to get into it to change the Wifi password.
But I can't remember the parental controls PIN. Allt he guides on the web say "click the reset button after 5 failed attempts" but there is no reset link (guessing because I'm stuck in a childs profile)
So I can't get to the parent profile to sort anything out, I can't reset the PIN. I had a look in my amazon account and hoped "deregister" would reset the device so I could set it up again. Maybe that will work BUT THERE'S NO WIFI SO THE KINDLE DOESN'T KNOW IT'S BEEN DEREGSITERED!!!
How can I sort this out?!?!
One of the kindles now has a 5 hour lock on it after dozens of password resets... I can't even try to fix it for 5 hours now.
If you click on the Amazon account and click deregister then that device is deregistered.
If you then turn that device on and try to connect it to wifi it will demand the currently available wifi connection and passcode.
It will then go to wifi and say "I am not registered" and ask you to complete the normal registration process.
You can contact Amazon using the HELP link on every amazon web page, use the FREE call me back for free and see if they can "hold your hand" and go through it. (It may be they can even take control of your Fire and do it for you - but I am not sure that facility is still available.)
