We have a Fire TV Stick with voice control. Now my seven year old daughter is getting a little more tech savvy I thought I'd set up some age restrictions so she can only view U and PG rated films and programmes from Amazon Prime. In settings > viewing restrictions there are four levels of restrictions; General (U rated), Family (PG), Teen (12, 15) and Mature (18). I restricted access so she can only view General and Family. Teen and Mature requires a pin. I have ticks against General and Family and padlocks against Teen and Mature. However, it doesn't work. It asks for a pin for everything, including U and PG rated. Unticking them all and removing the padlocks allows you view everything without a pin again, as expected.
It seems to me that the system doesn't work as intended and is simply an either or setting. You have the choice of having to enter a pin for everything or not. There is no way of tailoring restrictions to individual ratings as the viewing restrictions in settings would suggest.
It seems to have various steps to turning on and then setting up. (reading it it automatically restricts Teen and Adult content - BUT and it may be a big but - only from selected Amazon and 3rd party providers. Is it possible that you are testing using a provider that does not classify it's content?)
There seem to be quite a few steps to take and I am afraid I have no idea if it links with security for other aspects of Amazon.
If after trying at the zillions of options on the help pages you are still stumped it may be sensible to contact Amazon Customer Services via the HELP feature, selecting CALL ME BACK FOR FREE so that they can call you back and possibly walk you through step by step?
It is technology, so there is always the possiblilty that you are doing everything right and Amazon or the hardware/software have got it wrong. If so Amazon do seem to try to fix it there and then or send out replacement equipment next day delivery to try to overcome the problem.
Fingers crossed something nice happens.
Please - If Amazon/you find an obvious "if only they said that" PLEASE come back and post here with the solution - you'll be helping lots of families who may have the same problem - especially with all the toys arriving for Christmas :) Cheers, CW.

I wonder why someone would follow their own alternative forum profile.
Hi CW - Thanks for the reply. Looking at that link you provided and a link from that page it appears I've done everything correctly. I think I'll do as you suggest and contact customer services. I'll post back with any progress, or not!
No I never did get this to work. It repeatedly asks for a pin whenever my daughter plays an episode of Loud House. There is no reason why it should do this with the way I have the restrictions set. The viewing restrictions don't work and are a complete waste of time. It's extremely frustrating having to repeatedly enter the pin after each short episode. I suspect some of their programmes aren't tagged correctly.
