Just got a brand new fire stick on Prime Day so it is the latest version. I had hoped to be able to use the fire remote to control tv and receiver but there is a strange issue that prevents the remote from properly switching inputs. I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour with no resolution.
On initial setup I am asked for the tv brand (Toshiba) and then go through three tests before finalizing. 1st test is power on/off, second is volume, and third is input. All three tests check out fine on setup, including the input test which asks me to switch inputs using the original remote then see if the fire remote switches back to the correct input, which it does. I run through the same procedure with the Yamaha receiver, which also works perfectly fine.
Then, on actual usage, the input switching fails on both units. If I use another remote to switch to a gaming console, which uses the AV input on the tv and another port on the receiver, and then use the fire remote to fire up the fire, it does not switch to the correct input on the tv or receiver--they both just stay where they were last used.
I have the fire stick plugged into the back of the receiver which controls the signal going to the tv. I tried putting the fire stick directly into the tv hdmi port but still have the same problem--input switching works on initial setup but fails thereafter.
Everything else about the fire stick works flawlessly except this. Anybody have a clue?
