Just received my new Fire TV Cube and it looks like this has reared its head again (Link )
Has anyone else got the new Fire TV Cube and can test this.
To reproduce here are two scenarios:
Alexa, Play BBC Radio 2... it plays OK. Then Alexa, stop... it mutes for a moment then plays on.
Alexa, Play Mellow Magic ... it plays OK, then Alexa, Stop, it replies with thank you for listening to Mellow Magic... then restarts playing.
Any content that plays via Tunein works and stops OK, but we cant do that with BBC as they have stopped being hosted on Tunein.
Any music played via Amazon Music starts and stops OK
Alexa Ask Wikipedia about Charles Darwin, it reads facts about Charles Darwin... if I say Alexa Stop it stops, then I say Alexa Resume, it continues from the previous radio station which again I can't stop
So the Cube is receiving and understanding the word 'stop' but in many skills the play resumes.
I have an Amazon Echo 2 in another room and it works correctly with all the skills mentioned, with no problem stopping the Music.
On the Echo 2... Alexa Ask Wikipedia about Charles Darwin, it reads facts about Charles Darwin... if I say Alexa Stop it stops, then I say Alexa Resume, it continues from the correct Wikpedia text.
The commands Also work fine on a Gen2 TV stick with Alexa remote.
A puzzle, but a warning to those buying this device, on Amazon's advice I reset and set up the device again.. Same results. I have asked Amazon to investigate and a waiting....
@Kristen G Well that was FUN … not. Got a 'boiler plate' reply telling me basically to check connections, switch it off and on again, and re - set it up. Done all that … made no difference.
The reply said if it didn't work to go to support page and use the ring me now button. That just says call connected, doesn't ring my phone and disconnects.
I'm guessing as you've sent out a device that doesn't work properly, all on the same day, your call centre is also broken. I'm guessing they'll tell me to go to the skill developer, but as the skill and many others works fire on the Echo but not on your new device they'll say it's Amazons Fault.
This is a big issue... (it seems) Just has a very long online chat with first customer service, then Fire TV support team, who then had to pass the issue to his external team. They asked for a diagnostic log of the Cube, however, following instructions closely it failed to produce the log number required. They will get back to me by email.
Reason "Call me" didn't work for me, is that the calling number is blocked by a BT service called Call Protect, I had to turn of the BT Black list to allow calls through.
I’m also having this issue to the point where I’ve been sent a new device. Issue still occurring - I’ve made peace with the fact that you can’t play music without turning the TV on but this is a massive annoyance.
Hope they come up with a solution soon - any suggestions in the meantime?
