If your Amazon device has been lost or stolen, you should de-register it from your account and contact Amazon Customer Service as soon as possible. This procedures will prevent purchases from being made on your Amazon account using the device. Before deregistering, please make note of your device's serial number.
You can find this in Manage Your Content and Devices under the Your Devices tab. When you contact Amazon Customer Service, we will mark the device as “Lost / Stolen” which prevents the device from being registered to another Amazon account in most cases.
To de-register your device proceed as listed below:
1. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices and select the Your Devices tab.
2. Select the desired device, copy its serial number to provide to Customer Service, then click the
3. Deregister link underneath the device name.

Hello Forum people, My name is Zach and I am a Moderator for Amazon. I enjoy Film Making, Graphic Design and Web Design in my free time (Different than Kindle Freetime of course). I am also an avid adventurer, looking forward to my next outing!
First go into “content and devices” go into your devices, find your device and write down the serial number. Next deregister it this will prevent anyone using it on your account Next contact Amazon using the “contact us” button (there is a link in my signature) then the option “prime and more” ask Amazon to block it, you will need to give them the serial number. This will prevent anyone registering it to a different account and using it. Retain the serial number in case you recover it and want it unblocked.
Step 3 will break the link to your account. Step 5, if the person has not already deregistered it and reregistered it, will allow Amazon to black list the Kindle so it cannot be registered to any of the Amazon websites
