This is my 3rd Kindle original got broken on a flight to USA so had to watch the inflight movie, in NYC ,I bought a Paperwhite and it served me well but last year for some reason it kept locking up and the only way to get it going again was to hold the on/off button down until it did a reset. Then it would be OK for a while then do it again, more frequently each time. So thinking it was the age of it, 3 years old and used for several hours every day, I decided to change it for an up to date Kindle Voyage.
Wrong decision, it does exactly the same at least once a week, and when it does that when it restarts it is always at the place you were when you started that session. so before you reset it you need to note your reading progress, so that you find the place where you were when it locked.
Plus you cannot use the page turn buttons whilst laying down in bed reading, as with big fingers if you accidentally touch the button, it will advance several pages then you have a job on finding the page you were actually reading. So I turned that function off.
Again if you try and swipe to the next page near the top of the screen, it changes the font, and again you have to stop reading to reset that.
It is supposed to set the backlight level depending on the ambient light, half the time when I open it, there is no backlight at all, so I again have to sort that out.
I could go on but I suspect by now you get the picture. Considering the cost I am not a happy bunny and would not give this device any stars at all, and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT!
If however anyone has a fix to stop the locking up I would be extremely grateful.
