Hi, I got a 8th generation kindle for my christmas, have loaded books onto it and it was running down very quickly so turned wifi off. it's now totally flat and will not charge. I have the large battery on the screen with an exclamation mark and when it's connected to power supply an amber light is on but doesn't charge.
Have used 6 different cable to try and charge. When connected to my laptop it doesn't detect. Any suggestions
Since you have used several different chargers and cables it seems clear the Kindle has a defect - the charging socket I guess.
Use the HELP button on every Amazon web page and speak to amazon (If you bought it yourself go Help / order / your order reference / other / other) and ask them to replace. They will normally send out a replacement the same day.
Use the box the replacement comes in to return the defective kindle AND the return note that Amazon will send you. I strongly suggest using a local "Drop Shop" or "collect +" shop to return the box and get a receipt for return there and then in case it gets lost in the big Amazon machine.
