I have tried to transfer my books to new kindle but when opening them it comes up with a message " this item cannot be opened because it is licenced to another user" . It has gone from my "archived items" although it shows in my orders .how can I get my books onto my new kindle ?
Did you perchance copy them from one device to another? If so, that's why you are getting that message. Every book purchased from Amazon and downloaded to a device is DRM encoded to only open and be readable on that device. What you need to do is make sure your new device is registered to the same account as the old device and download them from the Archives/Clod/All tab which is a list of links to every Kindle book you purchased using that account. If you copied them over, simply reset your device to Factory Defaults (it's in the menus) and start from scratch.
it doesn't matter - every book that you purchased using an Amazon account is available to download from that account. Go to you amazon website, log in then click on the Manage Your Content and Devices (it might or might not say Manage) menu option on the upper right menu. All your books will be listed there. You can even do a Select All and send them all to any device registered to that account.
Transfer books You don't you just download them from the cloud as you want them, make sure your new Kindle is registered on the same account as your old one or you can't. Use "content and devices" to send the books to the new Kindle although you should be able to see them all from the new Kindle and download as you wish.
Books are never removed from the cloud unless you delete them in which case you have thrown them away.
