I bought a second hand kindle today and the previous owner said it would need to be re-registered.
I have connected it to my Wifi network and tried to register to an existing Amazon account.
I enter my email address and my password but it keeps telling me that they don't match any accounts on record.
I have changed my password and still get the same message. Any help please?
How well do you know the person who sold it to you? In order to register it to your Amazon account, it has to be de-registered from the previous Amazon account. If that's not been done you'll need to request that the previous owner do that OR you should be able to de-register it in Settings on the device. (Note: If the device was reported to Amazon as having been lost or stolen...which the seller may or many not be aware of...you'll never be able to register it.)
Thanks for your help. I collected this from the lady's house so I think it is genuine. It has already been de-registered. When I go to settings it doesn't show a name as the registered user. When I enter my email address and password and submit it, I get a text on my phone from Amazon giving me a security code? Do you know how can I get in touch with Amazon to sort it out?
you'll need to scan and find your router and then enter the router password or security key. It might be on a sticker on the router or on the paperwork that came with the router, but Amazon will not know that password. You might need to contact your internet provider
