I am trying to register a Kindle e-reader that used to belong to my mother, im my name. It has been deregistered but every time I emter my e-mail and password I get the message that no such account exsits - at the same time as an Amazon code arrives via my phone. However i can;t get past the e-mail /password page to enter the code - any ideas?
The Amazon web page has HELP sections and video's showing you exactly that to do step by step.
I am a little confused by your post. I BELIEVE:
You have an Amazon account - you know the correct email and amazon password to log in to that Amazon account.
This is your first Amazon device. Amazon are sending you a ONE TIME USE security code to that email. The Email with this ONE TIME USE code tells you exactly how to use it.
As far as I can remember, when registering your Kindle to your Amazon account you enter your normal Amazon email login and then when you enter your normal amazon login password YOU TYPE IN THE ONE TIME SECURITY CODE at the end of your normal login password. If it's changed then the email will tell you how to do it. Please, read the email that you are receiving from Amazon. they really should be explaining how to enter the code.
I am assuming that you have deregistered the kindle ereader from your mums account either from her Amazon profile page on Amazon web pages or using the DEREGISTER option on the ereader.
I hope the above. If not, try the Amazon HELP pages and/or talk to Amazon customer services for free by following the HELP options.
Edit: If you are being told "no such Amazon account exists" then perhaps no such Amazon account exists. Are you sure you have created (on a computer) an Amazon account and are you sure you are correctly typing in the Amazon account login details?

Sorry for any confusion. The account does exost and Amazon send a OTP to the assicuated phone - at the same time as telling me onthe Kindle that no such account exists. I'll try the help options - thanks.
