A few months ago, I subscribed to Amazon Prime, mainly to take advantage of the free books but I'm now seeing frequent charges for Kindle Svcs in addition to the Prime monthly subscription fee. Does anyone know what this is for or know of a UK kindle customer support tel number that won't cost the earth?
Use the HELP link at the base of most Amazon web pages and follow the options to get to free connection via telephone or eChat.
They will be able to check your account details and advise what is happening.
The usual reasons will be:
- You have more than one Amazon account and have taken out Prime membership on more than one account;
- Your household has more than one Amazon account holder (wife/child/parent) and those other account holders have taken out subscriptions using your card. (You may have used your card to create their accounts.)
- You have taken out other subscriptions, such as Amazon Music.
- You have (recently) purchased a new Fire device and opted for a free Prime trial during the set-up process.
Amazon will fix the problem and rush a refund through. IF you have used any of the Prime services for that other subscription(s) they may withhold the value of those services used.
In my opinion Prime is a terrible way of being offered 12 free books a year :( The delivery service and free Prime Video services make it great value for money if those services are good for you.
Kindle Unlimited, offering free loans from 1 million + books may be a better (and cheaper?) option if you are mainly looking for value book access.
Trust that the solution gets solved in seconds :) Regards, CW.
