DOWNLOADED ULTRA HD MUSIC CRASHES THE APP IN EVERY IOS DEVICE AND AMAZON ARE DOING SOD ALL ABOUT IT.
Please don’t shout. Is it because iOS does not support it? Check out the iOS specs. There is a workaround on the US forum under this subject. The crashing is just one of iOS problems with the Amazon Music app with UHD. The US forum helpfully explains it all.
still happening following the latest app update? Please report back.
Thanks. I should have updated my comment to Ayodele, I did a bit of research and came to the same conclusion.
Amazon Music HD is a cheaper way into higher bitrate music, but there's no way at the moment to get the bitstream to any of my equipment where you may actually benefit. i.e. I'm limited on my phone to the 16-bit default Android audio drivers. On my Mac, there's no exclusive mode (like in Tidal) to drive my external DAC. I can use an LDAC headphone amp, but that's lossy anyway. Does sound nice though.
If Amazon adds these capabilities to their apps (I have raised feature requests) then I would go for it.
Having just paid for an MP3 album from Amazon that I naturally expected to be 320k - but instead received some dreadful low bitrate VBR mush I fail to see this as relevant.
Yes a flac version in 2019 would be the obvious thing, but when Amazon derate content to fuzzy lorate MP3 I question their commitment to music.
If Amazon had advertised it as VBR I would not have bought it, I have a reasonable expectation of 320k in 2019 when I buy an MP3 album. This is mis selling.
In 1982 the CD was invented with 16bit/44kHz, not the ideal 24/48 bit a reasonable compromise for the times. Why 37 years later I can only buy a seriously substandard format is a mystery, where is the progress - or even the maintaining of standards??
Why would I buy 'HD' from Amazon when they rip me off for regular MP3?
