Just spent an unproductive half hour trying to reset my iPad before finding this thread. I, too, won’t be using the app in portrait mode and will have to use the web instead. I hope the technical team can quickly make a correction
I’m glad I found this thread because my iPad Pro was also showing in portrait mode so I thought it was an issue at my end so I deleted the app & then reinstalled it but no avail, There is no way I’ll be purchasing anything via Amazon until they reset this to landscape mode as it is unusable in portrait mode.
PLEASE fix this ASAP & let us know when this is fixed as I won’t be opening the app until then.
Think of the amount of revenue you are currently missing out on!!.
Received a reply back from Customer Services telling me to contact Apple etc etc.....
Anyway, after letting them know the issue was nothing to do with Apple but more than likely a coding error Custmer Services came back again:-
“I'm sorry to hear the issue with the Application it has been caused by a technical issue.
I can understand your concern that you have contacted the Apple Support and found the issue is not just isolated to your iPad Pro also feel that there is no need to contact the App Developer directly, and wish to know the reason.
We don't like to see our customers upset and inconvenienced. We always strive to create a positive customer experience.
In this instance, I've contacted our technical support regarding this issue, and they informed that, its due to technical glitches and we're currently working on a solution it will be resolved within 24-48 hours.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
However, there is no need of cause to be concerned.
In most cases, this issue can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the application on your device.
Further, If this issue will not be resolved within this time limit, I kindly request you to please write back to us with the following details.
If you’d like to help improve future versions of the Amazon App, or if reinstalling doesn’t help, write back with the following information:

Whatever happened to testing the app before release?????
I must admit that since I don't have anything Apple shaped I have no idea about the impact of a screen going from landscape to portrait. I'm a little surprised it's such a calamity since I have a range of ancient technology to hand that needs gentle coaxing to do any darn thing! (Blackberry Playbook - need I say more?)
This very forum - a huge change from the old forums - is full of "work in progress" aspects - laugh at the Apps not existing pages. Roll on the floor that no-one understands the screen icons and that the facilities in US, UK and Europe all differ.

Exactly the same happened to my iPad on Saturday 21 October....It was OK in the morning viewing landscape, then changed suddenly in the middle of viewing!
ive been in touch with Amazon and their team say they are onto the IOS team..(think they mean apple's?) and they are working to rectify this ..I too had the same questions , as MikeP and responded accordingly ...
Amazon recommended I remove and uninstall the app..which I did twice, but to no avail..
not only that, when going from email and tracking orders to Amazon, it seems to kick out the email messaging..so it has to be re-opened again..it is frustrating!!
I don't know why people are getting so excited about an app which is not even very good when working correctly, just bookmark or what ever apple call them and use the desktop page the ipad is plenty big enough. Phones however are better using portrait mode which is really what it is designed for.
