Hey @Buck: I am guessing that you have already double checked on the appstore that the app you are talking about (which you give no details of) is compatible with your telephone(which you give no details of) and that your phone is fully up to date with all relevant features.
Most apps are provided by 3rd parties (just the same as google and apple app stores) so you may need to contact the app developer to ask them if there are any problems.

You may want to use the Amazon HELP button and click 3 "other" pop up buttons and talk to the Amazon help desk for free. Takes a matter of seconds.
I fear that the app is unsupported now and will work as long as you have it but will not be available for new downloads, upgrades, etc. It may well be that the people have kept open the ability to buy in-app things since they will want your money - but I'm afraid that's the downside of apps now. They are garage companies that come and go. Sorry :(
